What is geocaching?

Geocaching is a high tech scavenger hunt using a portable GPS device or GPS enabled phone to find the locations of hidden caches. Coordinates are provided to get you close to the location of a cache, but you have to use your skills to find the cache.  

What is the Iron County Heritage Trail Geocache Adventure?

The Iron County Heritage Trail Geocache Adventure is an exciting way to discover the history behind Iron County’s beauty! Collect coins from four of the seven geocaches placed at heritage trail sites to collect a prize at the Iron County Chamber of Commerce in Iron River.

What do I need to geocache?

  • A handheld gps receiver or smart phone that has a geocaching application.
  • A pen or pencil so you can sign the cache log.
