A Michigan Historic Heritage Route

Located in Iron County of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the Iron County Heritage Trail is officially designated from the City of Iron River to the City of Crystal Falls under the Michigan Historic Heritage Route Program.  The Trail is composed of a 36 mile loop connecting 14 premier sites that provide visitors the opportunity to discover the historic and recreation resources of Iron County.

You are invited to come explore the history behind the beauty that is found all around you along the Iron County Heritage Trail.  Learn about the iron ore that drew immigrants from near and far,  retrace the steps of early pioneers as they struggled to carve out a living in the wilds of Upper Michigan, or explore the many parks with histories all their own.
